True Tallow Company is a small, student-owned business born from the merging of two unique stories.

It began when Kovan Drenth, passionate about living a more natural and non-toxic lifestyle, discovered the benefits of tallow and began making lotion in his home kitchen.

Meanwhile, Josie Lock and her family were raising cattle on their farm, Lock Cattle Company—a sustainable and trusted source of high-quality beef fat.

In 2024, Kovan and Josie met and realized they could combine their passions. From that shared vision, True Tallow Company was born.

Today, we run True Tallow as full-time college students, handcrafting each product in small batches with care and intention. Every jar reflects our commitment to quality, simplicity, and doing things the right way—even if it takes a little longer.

In a world overwhelmed by synthetic products and harmful additives, we chose to go back to the basics: real ingredients from real sources. Beef tallow is a time-tested remedy, used for generations to nourish and heal the skin. We’re here to bring it back—ethically, sustainably, and with intention.

At the heart of it all is our belief that God has given us good gifts through His creation—and we are called to steward them well. That means caring for our bodies, honoring the land and animals entrusted to us, and creating products with honesty, purpose, and respect for the natural world.
